Yummeez

Yummeez Variety

Yummeez Game

Ingredients: Meat and animal by-products (min. 50%, min. 10% game), vegetable by-products (min. 10% potato, min. 6% tapioca, min. 4% alfalfa).

Analytical constituents: 25% moisture, 28% protein, 5% fat, 6% ash, 5% fibre.

Review: We have recieved a Yummeez Product Test Paket from PetsNature (more information here) and we are very happy with the Yummeez products. Rocky absolutely loves them and can't get enough of them. The packaging is very nice and due to the little "windows" you are able to see exactly what you are buying. Also, it's very convenient that the package is resealable. The Yummeez have a nice smell to them and don't smell at all weird. I really like that the Yummeez don't contain any grains and they have the perfect size for small dogs. I usually break them into 2 pieces and often use them in Rockys snackball. The Game Yummeez were already a success and Rocky loves them. Would recommend them to everyone who has a dog.

Yummeez Salmon

Ingredients: Meat and animal by-products (min. 50%, min. 4% poultry), vegetable by-products (min. 10% potato, min. 6% tapioca, min. 4% alfalfa).

Analytical constituents: 25% moisture, 28% protein, 5% oils & fats, 6% ash, 5% fibre.

Review: I really like the design and I straight away associate the blue packaging with fish. Even though the flavour of these Yummeez is "salmon", they do not smell at all fishy which I rather like. Also, the Yummeez Salmon do not contain any grains, which I especially like. Like the Yummeez Game, Rocky also really likes the Yummeez Salmon. I would definitely recommend them.

Yummeez Poultry

Ingredients: Meat and animal by-products (min. 50%, min. 15% poultry), vegetable by-products (min. 10% potato, min. 6% tapioca, min. 4% alfalfa).

Analytical constituents: 25% moisture, 28% protein, 5% fat, 6% ash, 5% fibre.

Review: In my opinion, the design is again well chosen and the yellow colour is well-matched to the poultry variety (I am not sure why but I am immediately associating yellow with poultry). They smell pleasant as they are not smelling too strong. Rocky was once again very excited and couldn't get enough. I can definitely recommend this variety.

Yummeez Lamb

Ingredients: Meat and animal by-products (min. 50%, min. 4% lamb), vegetable by-products (min. 10% potato, min. 6% tapioca, min. 4% alfalfa).

Analytical constituents: 25% moisture, 28% protein, 5% fat, 6% ash, 5% fibre.

Review: I think the design of the lamb variety is nice and I espepcially like the rich purple colour. The smell is quite pleasant but it does not really smell meaty. Rocky, despite them not having a strong meat smell, loves the lamb variety and I would definitely recommend them.

Perrito Duck & Chicken Steak

Perrito Duck & Chicken Steak

Ingredients: Duck, Chicken.

Analytical constituents: Crude protein 45% min, crude fat 3%, crude fibre 1%, crude ash 3,5%, moisture 34%.

Review: The Perrito Duck & Chicken Steak Package were also included in the  PetsNature product test (more information here). I find the packaging very appealing, starting from the logo and including the little details such as the little dog paws. The Duck & Chicken Steak are also smelling very nice and meaty, which Rocky loved. It's also great that they are completely made out of meat and don't contain any grains. They are also very easy to chew as they are very soft and they can be easily cut into smaller pieces. Rocky seems to like them and he always chews on them with pleasure. I would definitely recommend them.

Vet's Kitchen Active Joints

Vet's Kitchen Active Joints

Composition: Water, Glucosamine hydrochloride, Xanthan  Gum, Collagen Hydrosylate, Natural Chicken Flavour, Chrondroitin sulphate (marine), Methyl Sulphonyl Methane, Potassium Sorbate, Caramel, Sodium Benzoate, Hyaluronic Acid

Review: I can't really say a lot about the ingredients itself, as I don't know about many of these ingredients. I am only wondering what an ingredient such as caramel is doing in this product.
I have mixed the supplement under Rocky's food and he happily ate it. I have not noticed any improvement of Rocky's knee, but his knee condition has not worsen either.

DOGGIE DRAWINGS by Lili Chin

DOGGIE DRAWINGS by Lili Chin

http://static.tumblr.com/rvgptxe/Eyzm15j6c/doggiedrawingslogo1.png

Today I came across DOGGIE DRAWINGS by Lili Chin and simply had to share some of her drawings as they are great!

Lili Chin has created quite a few illustrations about different doggie behaviours/languages and situations about interactions with humans and other dogs, and I thought I should post the (for me) most important ones.

To start, here is the DOGGIE LANGUAGE illustration:
(click on the picture for a larger view)
I find the doggie language drawing a very helpful illustration in order to understand what our dog and other dogs are trying to tell us by their behaviour.

The second illustration, I find very important, is the CALMING SIGNALS illustration:
(click on the picture for a larger view)
This is a great illustration to demonstrate a dogs body language and calming signals.

The next illustration I am going to post is the GREETING A DOG illustration:
(click on the picture for a larger view)
This illustration shows the correct way of greeting a dog and 6 ways of how NOT to greet a dog, which I think is very important, especially for kids.

The last illustration is the SPACE ETIQUETTE FOR DOGS illustration:
(click on the picture for a larger view)
For me personally, this illustration should be at the entrance of every park. I find myself often being in the exact same situation and I think these situations could be easily avoided if dog owners would show more respect to one another.

Lili Chin really did a great job on those illustrations/drawings and there are a lot more you can find on her website.

Kong Stuff'n Products

An introduction about these products can be found here.

Kong Stuff'n Snack

Composition: Meat and animal derivatives (35% chicken liver), Cereals, Oils and fats.

Analytical Constituents: Crude protein 24%, crude fat 9%, crude fibre 5%, moisture 10%, crude ash 5%.

Review: I like that they fit exactly in the opening of the small Kong, thus making it a bit more difficult for Rocky to get to the tasty stuffing. However, I am a bit unhappy about the cereal content and would prefer a higher meat content. But they serve their purpose well and Rocky seems to like them.

Kong Stuff'n Easy Treat

Ingredients: Milk, Water, Soybean Iil, Whey, Modified Corn Starch, Soidum Phosphate, Maltodextrin, Dextrose, Dried Chicken Liver, Salt, Lactic Acid, Natural Flavor, Sorbic Acid (as a preservative), Cheese Cultures, Rennet. No Trans Fatty Acids.

Guaranteed Analysis: Crude protein (min) 4%, crude fat (min) 20%, crude fibre (max) 1%, moisture (max) 54%)%, ash (max) 5%.

Review: I am not too sure about the ingredients as there are a some ingredients in there that I have no idea about what they are. However, Rocky likes it and I think it's great to put a bit of it into the end of the Kong.

How to stuff a Kong

There are actual instructions out there that describe how to fill a Kong (find more information about the Kong here) using the Kong stuff'n Snack and Easy Treat.

Filling the Kong in Layers:
(click on the picture for a larger view)
I really like the illustration and it gives an idea about how to stuff a Kong. I think the Kong specific stuffings/fillings are however not a necessity and you can even fill the Kong with whatever layers you wish.

How did Rocky like the Kong Stuffings? Rocky loves it! He needed about 30 minutes to finish it and the Kong Stuff'n Snack made it a bit harder in the beginning to get to the actual filling.

Kong Products

Kong prodcuts

I got some Kong products today; the Kong Squiggles, the Kong Stuff'n Snacks, the Kong Stuff'n Easy Treat and the Kong ZoomGroom, and wanted to introduce them.

Kong Stuff'n Snacks and Easy Treat

The Kong Stuff'n products are products that can be used in Kongs which I have reviewed some time ago.
The Kong Stuff'n Snacks come in different varieties. There are Liver snacks and Peanut Butter snacks, as well as specific snacks for puppies and seniors. Alls these Snacks come in 2 different sizes to fit the different sized Kongs; size Small and Large.
The Kong Stuff'n Easy Treat comes in 6 different recipes; Pepperoni Recipe, Liver Recipe, Peanug Butter Recipe, Fresh Breath Recipe, Puppy Recipe and Senior Recipe. These Easy Treats can be easily sprayed into the Kong or other Kong products.
I will write a seperate post about these both products, including how exactly to use them and how Rocky liked them.

Kong Squiggles

The Kong Squiggles is an interactive dog toy which can stretch and squeak. It comes in 4 different characters: elephant, rabbit, donkey and monkey, of which Rocky got the monkey. I really like the toy as it is very colourful and I know Rocky likes squeaking toys.

So how did Rocky like the Kong Squiggles? I think the following pictures speak for themselves!

Rocky absolutely loved the Kong Squiggles!

The only criticism I have for this toy is that Rocky broke it within seconds. He ripped one of the seams which I can however easily fix again by stitching it back up.

Kong ZoomGroom

The Kong ZoomGroom is a plastic brush that can be used on your dog. It can be used to simply groom and massage your dog but also during baths in order to massage the shampoo into your dogs fur. The Kong ZoomGroom comes in 2 different colours; raspberry and boysenberry. It is also available for cats in purple.

How did Rocky like it? He first wanted to have a good sniff on it and didn't seem to mind me brushing/massaging him with it. I think it's a great product and can, unlike many other brushes, be easily cleaned due to being out of plastic.

Thirsty Milo (portable/travel bowl)

Thirsty Milo

The Thirsty Milo is a portable/travel water bowl. It can hold up to 1.5 litres of water and measures about 26.7cm L x 18.9cm W x 8.4cm H. It is available on the Thirsty Milo website in 2 colours; Sunburst (orange/blue) and Pincress Pink (pink/purple). Furthermore, the Thirsty Milo is made out of durable plastic which makes it very easy to clean as you can easily wash it with your dishes and even put it in the dish washer (just remember to rinse it thourougly with fresh water afterwards). I really like the fact that with the Thirsty Milo you will only have to bring along this one portable bowl rather than a bowl and a water bottle. The Thirsty Milo can be filled with water and screwed close so the water stays inside safely, cool and fresh. To use, the Thristy Milo will have to be simply placed on the ground and be unsrewed. It is also very easy to refill whenever needed. The handle also makes it very easy to take along on a walk. So no matter whether you are in the car, bus or train, or whether you are simply out all day in the park or at the beach, the Thirsty Milo is easy to take along and to store fresh and cool water for your pet.

My only criticism is that I would find it quite heavy to carry for a long period of time if it was completely filled with 1.5 litres of water. However, since water is safely stored inside the Thirsty Milo could still be put in a backpack or handbag which would make it easier to carry. As a suggestion, I think it would be great if the Thirsty Milo was available in differnt sizes as I think it is a bit big for a small dog like Rocky.

How did Rocky like the Thirsty Milo? He first was a bit unsure about the big orange Thirsty Milo and I had to confince him that it wasn't anything bad by placing some treats in the empty Thirsty Milo. I think that is a good way of getting a dog used to it. Once he figured it wasn't bad at all he was confident enough to drink out of it.

Overall, I think that the Thirsty Milo is a good and safe way of bringing water along for your pet without having to bring a water bottle and an extra bowl.
