Recently, I have heard a lot about Anter Chews for dogs and I was really interested to see what Rocky would think about them.

Antlers are very healthy for dogs and are full of minerals and nutrients including ash, protein, fibre, calcium, phosphorous, magnesium, iron, sodium and potassium, which are released while chewing.
As deer antlers are made out of hard bony material, they are not likely to splitter or shatter which means that they will provide long lasting chew fun, while at the same time keeping your dog busy and happy. They are also very good for dogs teeth as the antlers will clean the teeth while chewing. Additionally, they are very suitable for dogs that have tummy problems or are on a diet.
The good thing about antler dog chews is that unlike many other dog chews, they are odorless and clean. Thus, your dog can even chew it on the rug or the dog bed without making a huge mess. They also last very long so can be kept over a long period of time.

Antlers naturally vary in size, shape and colour. Thus, they can be greyish beige to dark brown in colour, can be thin or thick, and can have different shapes such as being straight or branched. The Antlers are usually softer in the center where a softer marrow like portion is.
The Antler Dog Chews that we are going to review today are the Original Antler Dog Chew in small, medium and large, the Easy Antler Chew in small and the Fallow Deer Antler Strip.
There are however more chews available including the Tough Chew in sizes Large, Extra Large and Mega, the Puppy Antler Chew, as well as the Burr Biscuit, which we are however not going to review.
Original Antler Dog Chew Small
This Antler Chew is 8 - 15cm long and is perfect for small dog breeds such as Chihuahuas, Toy Poodles and small Terrier.
Original Antler Dog Chew Medium
The medium Antler Chew is over 11cm long, with the total length depending on the circumference and densitiy of each individul antler. It is perfect for medium sized breeds such as Spaniel and bigger Terrier.
Original Antler Dog Chew Large
Large Anter Chews are perfect for large breeds including Retriever and Setter, but are also great for bigger Terrier and Spaniel that are tough chewers. They will be over 12cm long but size and shape will vary.
For even bigger breeds of dogs there are also sizes Mammoth and Super Mammoth available. The Mammoth Antler Chew are between 25 and 35cm long and are over 40cm in diameter, while the Super Mammoth Antler is even bigger, being between 25 and 45cm long and over 40cm in diameter.
Easy Antler Chew Small
The small Easy Antler Chew is over 8cm long and perfect for small dog breeds. The Easy Antler Chews are cut in half, so they are a lot easier for the dogs to chew (as the name already suggests).
The Easy Antler Chews are available in 4 different sizes; Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large.
The medium Easy Antler Chew will be over 10cm long, the large Easy Antler Chew will be over 14cm long and the extra large Easy Antler Chew will be over 17cm long.
Fallow Deer Antler Strip
This is a strip of the Fallow Deer Antler which is suitable for all sizes of dogs, but best suited for softer chewers and smaller dogs.
Next to the strip, there are also Half and Whole Fallow Deer Antlers available.
REVIEW
I am very pleasantly suprised about Antler Chews, as well as about the company Antler Dog Chews UK.
To start with the company; they only use naturally shed/dropped antlers from free ranging deer and are strictly against antlers from hunted or culled deer. They also use packaging and lables that are from 100% recycled materials, or if not possible, they make sure that it was produced from something that is 100% recycable. I think their eco-friendly thinking is really great.
The delivery was also very quick! Antler Dog Chews that are ordered before 3pm are delivered the next day via 1st class mail. I was very impressed about how quickly it really arrived and think that this is a great service.
To the antlers itself; I was very pleasantly surprised about how great they are. Unlike my concerns about Rocky not touching them at all, he was straight away very interested in them. Given the opportunity, he got comfy with an antler chew and pleasurably started chewing.
I also really like that they are 100% natural and in addition are very healthy for Rocky's teeth. They are odorless which I especially like as I sometimes really can't put up with some of Rocky's very smelly chews. Also, for once these are chews which Rocky can actually chew on the rug without me worrying about stains and crumbs.
Even though I haven't tried it yet, I read that it is possible to soak Antler Chews in chicken stock in order to make them more appealing for your dog. Rocky seemed happy enough to chew an Antler without being soaked but I think it's a great idea if your dog is not interested in them and I would have definitely tried it.
