"Canagan produces biologically appropriate, grain-free dog and cat food with nature's best ingredients.

The food of their ancestors

Throughout the ages, man and dog have evolved side by side, living and hunting together, protecting each other in a unique alliance. Canagan - from the ancient Celtic word for wolf - was created to honour this bond.
All dogs are the direct descendents of grey wolves domesticated by our ancient forefathers, and their dietary needs have remained virtually unchanged to this day.

What is biologically appropriate?

Traditionally dog and cat foods have sacrificed nutritional value by using cheaper, less nutritionally accessible ingredients. The Canagan nutritionists have looked carefully at the dietary needs of cats and dogs to produce a food which more closely mimics your pet's ancestral diet with the correct ratio of meat protein and fat to carbohydrate and a much higher meat content than most.

Nature's best ingredients

What really sets Canagan apart is the quality of the meat and fish that they source for their food. As dogs are carnivores they can more readily get nutrition from meat sources, so they have chosen meat that is wholesome, delicious with plenty of nutritional benefits.

Why go grain free?

Grains such as corn, wheat and barley have been linked with canine allergies, with symptoms ranging from upset stomach to itchy flaky coat. Even if your pet has no allergies, these grains have virtually no nutritional value, yet they are present in the majority of pet foods.
Every single ingredient in Canagan has been carefully selected to provide your dog and cat with the optimum in nutrition.
Dogs and cats, like all carnivores, are biologically incapable of fully digesting grains such as corn, wheat and barley. This is because they don't have the enzyme called amylase in their saliva, which helps to break down these starchy carbohydrates.
Canagan have eliminated all the grain from their recipe to create a food that is entirely nutritionally accessible."

Canagan offers two varieties of dog food for small breeds; Free-Run Chicken and Country Game. We were able to try the Free Run Chicken variety for small breeds by Canagan.

Review: I am very satisfied with the Canagan Small Breed Free-Run Chicken. Canagan offers great dog food with great ingredients. I really like that this dryfood contains a lot of meat and that it is grain-free. It also does not contain any unnecessary fillers but only contains good ingredients. I especially like that Canagan have included Glucosamine, MSN and Chondroitin in their dog food as these ingredrients are great joint supplements.
Rocky straight away loved the Canagan Small Breed Free-Run Chicken. He can be quite fussy about food but immediately ate the Canagan dryfood. I think it is great to have a dryfood that Rocky likes and which has great ingredients.
