Hurtta Pro Wintercoat

Hurtta Pro Wintercoat

As I am very happy with the Hurtta Pro Wintercoat I got for Rocky, I thought I should take the time to review it!
For me this is one of the best wintercoats for dogs that are available on the market at the moment and I am simply loving it. It is not only practical, but also looks really good and I love the overall design.
The coat is warm, wind-/ water resistant and has reflective elements to be seen in the dark. Thus, it's perfect for cold/rainy days.
The coat also has a fur lining around the neck, so the neck area is kept nice and warm. Also the girth strap is, especially for males, at the perfect place as you can tighten the coat around the belly just enough for males not to pee on the coat.
Furthermore, the coat has leg straps so that the coat sits nice and tight around the back and leg area in order to keep those parts especially warm.
The coat is available in loads of different sizes so for every breed and size of dog there is the perfect fitting wintercoat.
The only negative aspect about the coat is that there is no lead hole in the back so a harness could be worn underneath and there is also no ring on the coat to attach a lead to. However, the overall good quality overcomes this negative aspect and it is possible for the dog to wear a harness over the coat.

How does Rocky like the Hurtta Pro Wintercoat? Rocky first didn't really like wearing it, especially the leg straps. However, with a handfull of treats I quickly got him used to walking around with the coat. So dogs who are not used to wearing any clothes should slowly get used to wearing it, which shouldn't be too difficult using some treats.

Here are some picture of Rocky wearing the Hurtta Pro Wintercoat:

And one picture showing Rocky wearing a harness over the wintercoat:

And when worn outside:

I would recommend this coat to everyone who thinks about getting a coat for their dog. For me there is only one dog coat; the Hurtta Pro Wintercoat.

Kong

Kong Size S

I really like the Kong as it keeps your dog busy for a long time. You can fill the Kong with everything you want. You can be as creative as you would like to be. I usually fill it with e.g. mushed bananas, natural yoghurt, cheese, liver sausage pate, wetfood, etc. You can also mix things up or fill it in layers. Very often I am simply filling Rockys wetfood in the Kong as it seems to taste a whole lot better out of the Kong than out of his bowl. There are also specially designed treats that you can fill in the Kong which I however have not tried yet.

How does Rocky like the Kong? He loves it and gets very excited once I take it out.

Here you can find more information about the Kong.

Trixie Labyrinth Snackball

Trixie Labyrinth Snackball

Rocky loves his snackball and he will be rolling it around the flat for a long time. Inside the ball is a kind of labyrinth in order for the treats to only randomly fall out. Thus, it will keep him busy for longer. I love the snackball and we are using it very often. And Rocky seems to love it as well. You can fill all kinds of treats it. I usually use the Rinti Mini-Bits and Yummeez. I will break them in half and stuff them into the ball. Works really well and makes it more exciting for Rocky as not only one variety of treats is in there.

Here you can find information about the Trixie Labyrinth Snackball.

IQ toy

IQ toy

I find IQ toys for dogs very interesting and thus, I  got one for Rocky. However, the most difficult part is only the first time, once they found out how to get the treats it's borring as they will immediately get them in seconds. I am still using it some times but the first "having to think about it" effect is definitely gone. Rocky however still gets very excited when I bring out the IQ toy.

Vet's Kitchen Dryfood

Vet's Kitchen Adult Chicken & Brown Rice

Ingredients: Poultry Meal (min. 36%), Brown Rice (min. 18%), White Rice (min. 18%), Oats, Sugarbeet Pulp, Poultry Fat, Brewers Yeast, Poultry Digest, Salmon Oil, Pork Digest, Minerals, Vitamins, DL-Methionine, Mannanoliosaccharides (min. 0.05%), Fructooligosaccharides (min. 0.05%), Carrots, Apples, Seaweed, Nucleotides (min. 0.05%), Glucosamine (min. 0.03%), Methylsulfonylmethane (min. 0.03%), Chondroitin Sulphate (min. 0.02%), Yucca Schidigera Extract, Mixed Tocopherols and Rosemary, L-Carnitine, Beta Carotene

Analytical constituents:  protein 28%, oils 14%, fibre 3.5%, ash 8%.

Review: I got this trial product from Discover Dogs and I am not really too happy with it. For me the grain content is too high (in form of white rice, brown rice and oats) and since I try to not feed any grains to Rocky (or only a tiny amount) I didn't feed this food to him, which is why I can't say whether he would like it or not. Also there is some sort of pork in the food about which no more information is given (and I personally do not feed pork). Furthermore, I have no idea what many of the ingredients are, which I find very worrying as I prefer knowing every ingredient that goes into my dog.

Angell Petco Salmon Complete Food

Angell Petco Salmon Complete Food

Ingredients: Salmon (min. 37%: Includes min. 26% salmon meal, min. 11% salmon), Potato (min 37%), Salmon Oil, Sugar beet fibre, Peas, Brewers Yeast, Minerals and Vitamins

Analytical constituents: Protein 26%, oils & fats 16%, fibre 3%, ash 9%.

Review: As I wanted to feed Rocky more fish products I tought I would try the Angell Petco Salmon dryfood. Rocky wasn't too keen about it as he doesn't seem to like fish as wet- or dryfood. He does take it as treats though which is why I am now giving him some pieces inbetween meals as treats.

Applaws Sea Trout

Applaws Sea Trout

Ingredients: 100% Sea Trout

Analytical constituents:  protein 30%, fibre 0%, oils & fats 7.5%, ash 2%, moisture 58%.

Review: Rocky really enjoyed it. He immediately ate it even though he usually doesn't like fish in his dry- or wetfood.
I would definitely buy them again even though they should be all fed after a max of 5 days after being open in the fridge. So those won't last long but are perfect for a quick treat inbetween.

Dog Adore Dryfood

Dog Adore Super Premium Puppy with Chicken

Ingredients: Poultry Meal, Rice, Maize, Oats, Poultry Fat, Sugar Beet Plup, Fish Meal, Chicken Hyrolysate, Brewers Yeast, Egg Powder, Linseeds, Salmon Oil, Minerals, Vitamins, Pork Hydrolysate, DL-Methionine, Mannanoligosaccharides, Fructooligosaccharides, L-Carnitine, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Glucosamine, Methylsulfonylmethane, Chondroitine Sulphate.

Analytical constituents: protein 30%, oils & fats 14%, fibre 2.5%, ash 9.5%, Omega-3 0.82%.

Review: I got 2 sample packages from Dogs Adore Dryfood from Discover Dogs. I haven't fed them to Rocky so I can't say whether he would have liked it. I am not really all happy with the ingredients as the food contains quite a lot of gains in form of corn, rice and oats. Also, there is some form of pork in the food about which no further information is given (and I personally do not feed pork). I also don't know about quite some ingredients that are in the food, which I find very worrying as I personally want to know exactly what every ingredient is that goes into my dog.

Dog Adore Duck & Potato Sensitiv

Ingredients: Potato 26%, Duck Meal 26%, Peas, Sugar Beet Pulp, Poultry Fat, Brewers Yeast, Linseed, Chicken Hydrolysate, Minerals, Vitamins.

Analytische Bestandteile: protein 26%, oils & fats 12%, fibre 4%, ash 10%, Omega-6 2.24%, Omega-3 0.64%.

Review: I also got this sample from Discover Dog. The ingredients seem a bit better than the ingredients of the puppy food. However, for my liking the meat content is too low.

8in1 Delights

8in1 Delights Chicken Dog Chew
Size S

Ingredients: Meat and animal by-products (chicken 12%), minerals
Preserved using EU-approved preservatives. Food supplement for dogs.

Analytical constituents: protein 82.0%, oils & fats 1%, fibre 1%, ash 2%, moisture 14%.

Review: Rocky straight away like the 8in1 Bone and started chewing immediately. It was however really easy for Rocky to just eat off the chicken bits and leave the rest, which was such a pity. I personally thought the chewing experience would last longer and was a bit disappointed.
Next time I might try the "strong" variety.

Millies Wolfheart

Millies Wolfheart
Salmon and Vegetables

Ingredients: Deboned Freshly Prepared Salmon (min. 45.70%), salmon meal (min. 14.10%), sweet potato, potato flakes, salmon oil (min. 8.38%),  Vitamins and minerals, pea fibre, lucerne, salmon gravy (min. 1.52%), dried apple, carrot flakes, spinach flakes, lovagepowder, seaweed meal, dried cranberry, aniseed and fenugreek, mixed herbs (thyme, marjoram, oregano, parsley, sage), glucosamine (min. 0.01%), MSM (min. 0.01%), chondroitin sulphate (min. 0.01%), camomile powder, burdock root powder, peppermint, dandelion herb

Analytical constituents: protein 31%, oils & fats 18%, fibre 3%, ash 9%, Omega 6 0,54%, Omega 3 3,86%, calcium 1,38%, phosphor 1,12%.

Review: Rocky got this food inbetween as treats and he always happily ate it. The ingredients are quite good and even though there is quite a lot of fish in the food it doesn't smell too bad. The only downside is that the kibble is quite big and hard, and thus a bit difficult for Rocky to chew. So it's not ideal for small breeds but perfectly fine for bigger dogs.

Angell Petco Fish Skins - Flatties

Angell Petco Fish Skins - Flatties

Ingredients: 100% Fish Skins

Review: Even though Rocky takes them immediately out of my hands and runs away with them into his bed, he hardly ever actually eats them. So far he only ate 1 and left the rest.
I really like them, even though they do strongly smell like fish, as I think they are different.

Analytical constituents: Protein 21%, oil 7.5%, fibre 2.5%, ash 6%.

Review: Rocky seemed to have enjoyed eating it but however, I wasn't too happy with it. The first ingredient on the list is grain (brown rice) and the actual meat content is only 26% which is too low for my liking.
