The Aruby thickness recommendation is:

Biothane Leads are very handy and are therefore a lot easier to grab. Furthermore, Biothane does not soak up with water and therefore even stays easy and good to handle in bad weather. Due to the sheathing the versatile dog accessory barely needs any care. It is enough if it is cleaned with a wet cloth. Mud, Dirt, everything that leads to an enormous cleaning effort is easily cleaned."

We have an Aruby Biothane Lead '1' in dark brown, 9mm thickness and with brass metal fittings:

Rocky with his Aruby Biothane Lead:

Review: I think the Biothane Lead by Aruby is great. I especially like earthy shades on Rocky and thus I think the Dark Brown Biothane Lead suits him very well. It is very handy and has a suitable length. Usually simple dog leads are too short for Rocky (1m), but the Aruby Biothane Lead lenght of 1,20m is very suitbale. Furthermore, the thickness of 9mm is very good for a small Chihuahua and it shouldn't be any thicker. I am overall very satisfied with Biothane because it is easy to care for as it water resistant and quickly to clean. Moreover, Biothane Leads are available in a numerous range of colours and thicknesses so that a suitbale Biothane Lead can be made for every dog & dog owner. I however would have preferred silver coloured metal fittings on my Aruby Biothane Lead instead of brass metal fittings.
Overall, I am very satisfied with my Aruby Biothane Lead though.

About dogsli

www.dogsli.de

"dogsli is concerned for years about the quality of food products. Because grandmothers already knew: You are what you eat. This can of course be applied to our dogs too. But what shall our four-legged family members eat? How much? And why? - After getting many questions and even more answers they decided to form their own opition. Countless food samples, a pile of specialist literature and a training course as a nutritional consultant for dogs they realized: Somehow no food suits them or their dogs. Because no two dogs are alike. So why should like eat the same or like the same?
In 2005 they visited a tiny bakery for dog cookies on Cape Cod in NewEngland in order to look for a souvenir for their family dogs. Fascinated by the idea to make dog cookies out of high quality ingredients they were developing their own dog food, dogsli, in meticulous hours of work in the following years. On their side is the greatest critic and sceptic: Because their dog turned out to be a gourmet who does not eat everything that they think is tasteful, good and healthy. Unless it's dogsli. Because for dogsli he leaves behind everything... And here they are! They hope that dogsli convince their customers as well as it has convinced them. And that their customer's dogs like it equally to their gourmet."

(Source: www.dogsli.de/Fuettern/Backmischung-Hundekekse/Backmischung-Rind.html Translated by me)

As the Backing Mixture was a bit too much for me I only used half (350g) of the Backing Mixture.

For the amount of 350g there have to be added 50ml of water and 3 eggs.

All mixed up well.

The bones were made with the dogsli Cookie Cutter 'Bone'.

Next to the bones I also made small balls.

Adter about 18 minutes in the oven at 150°C fan oven Rocky's Cookies were done (my oven bakes faster than stated!).

Round Cookies

Bone Cookies

Review: The 700g Backing Mixture by dogsli was for me too big for Rocky which is why I simply halfed the Backing Mixture. The Mixture was very easy to mix and also forming the Cookies was easy. Even though it was stated that the Cookies will take 25-30 minutes in the oven, Rocky's Cookies were done within 18 minutes (my oven bakes somehow faster than others). While baking the Cookies smelled a lot. Rocky loved the smell and did not want to leave the kitchen; for the human nose the smell is however rather repulsive. So I would advice to leave a couple of windows open while baking.
After the Cookies were cooled Rocky was allowed to try them and he loved the self-baked Cookies. A complete success! I will definitely make the other half of the Baking Mixture at a later time.

dogsli Cookie Cutter 'Bone'

Review: I think the doglsi Cookie Cutter 'Bone' is really cute and I have even cut out a feed Bone Cookies with it. I personally however thing that it is easier and quicker to form small Cookie Balls. It is nevertheless a cute idea.

dogsli Toy Dog

We have received the books '250 breeds of dog' and 'What does my dog think?' by the KOSMOS Publishing.

'250 breeds of dog' von Eva-Maria Krämer

Description of the book '250 breeds of dog' by Eva-Maria Krämer: "Here, every dog lover can find a suitable companion. Meaningful pictures show typical representatives of 250 breeds. Additionally, it includes information about origin, utilization, character and behaviour of each individual breed, as well as the keeping and care. At one glance: Information about size, weight and coat colour. The dogs are sorted into groups according to relation and similarity, whereby the KOSMOS-colour code offers a quick orientation.

The book '250 breeds of dog' by Eva-Maria Krämer (ISBN: 978-3-440-13079-7) was published on the 04.01.2012 (2nd edition) and has 288 pages. It is available as a paperback and is written in German."

Review: The book '250 breeds of dog' by Eva-Maria Krämer is structured very well and clearly. At the beginning, it is explained how the description of the individual breeds of dog are divided. Afterwards, it is described how to find the right/ suitable dog which includes the purchase of a puppy. A list of explanations of specialist terms around the dog follows. Thereafter, the breeds of dog portrait are divided into 10 categories; Shepherds and Cattle Dog; Pinscher, Schnauzer, Molossoid Breeds and Swiss Mountain Dogs; Terrier; Dachshunds; Spitz and Dogs of the Primitive Type; Running Hounds and Scenthounds; Pointing Dogs; Retrieving Dogs; Flushing- and Water Dogs; Companion- and Toy Dogs; and Sighthounds. The groups of breeds of dog are always described at the beginning of the group. At the end, the Service part includes Book Tips to read on, useful Addresses and a Register.
I think especially the breed protraits are written very well and clearly. Each individual dog breed is described in an overview box according to it's breed of dog group and it's origin, as well as shoulder height and if given the weight, and permitted colour. In the main part the origin, utilization, character and behaviour is reported. In a further 'at one glance' box the size of each individual breed is shown (next to a 1.80m tall person), as well as a summary about training, care, engagement and the diffusion which are indicated in three steps; low, time-consuming or demanding.
I could really read this book for hours and read about the individual breeds. I think the given information are very interesting and have almost read the complete book. I especially like the summary which quickly shows all the important information, as well as the 'at one glance' size as I always find it difficult to imagine how tall a breed ist when only the size is given.
All round a great book about 250 breeds of dog in a handy size.

'What does my dog think?' by Heike Schmidt-Röger

Description of the 'What does my dog think?' by Heike Schmidt-Röger: "A quick glance, a signal with the tail, a typical posture. And who can interpret these signals correctly can understand what dogs think and feel. Thus, an exaggerated mimic, a lowered forebody and a relaxed wagging tail show that the dog is in a play mood. Pushed through legs, a sharp glance and a raised tail show an imposed behaviour, while a restless flicker and a crouched posture show fear and uncertainty.

The journalist, photographer and longtime dog owner Heike Schmidt-Röger shows typical dog behaviour by means of significant pictures and easily understandable describes every situation. Thus, every dog friend can "read" the thoughts of their dog and can understand him better.

The book 'What does my dog think?' by Heike Schmidt-Röger (ISBN: 978-3-440-12389-8) was punlished on the 06.02.2012 and has 96 pages. It is available as a paperback and is written in German."

Review: The book 'What does my dog think?' by Heike Schmidt-Röger explains typical dog behaviour by means of three theme categories; Typical Dog, Dog & Dog, and Dog & Human. In the service part are furthermore Suggestions to read on, a referral of useful Addresses, and includes a Register and Disclaimer.
The dog behaviour is easily explained via pictures for each individual situation. As a dog owner many situations seem very familiar. Even though I think the book is quite interesting I personally would have wished for more details in raltion to body, head, ear and tail position in regards to particular situations and the meanings. The book is overall described very 'human-like' (how we as humans peceive the dog behaviour) without responding to the 'dog-like' (what the position of the body, head, ears and tail of the dog actually tells us in the particular situation).
